SHEET METAL WORKERS, PLATERS & FABRICATORS

Hours: Monday – Thursday 8.00am – 4.30pm, Friday 8.00am – 1.00pm (37 hours). Overtime is available and would be expected when required.
25 Days holiday.

We are recruiting Sheet Metal Workers to join our busy Fabrication Shop in Jarrow.

Experience
• Must be a time served and/or an NVQ level 3 City and Guilds Level 3 Fabrication and Welding qualification.
• Desirable: Hold a full clean driving license.
• You must have experience in MIG and TIG welding with a good understanding of technical drawings.
• Familiar with dimensional marking out, patten & development.
• You will possess experience in a range of materials, ferrous and non-ferrous material.

Duties & the Candidate
• Assembly of various steel components
• You’ll perform a full range of sheet metal operations in line with our Standard Operating Procedures, whilst working to the approved quality standards.
• Ensure material traceability as adhered to.
• Quality Assurance of components and finished goods by inspection of own work and others.
• Operating a range of machinery including guillotines, press brake, mechanical saws, manual punches, power rollers, overhead cranes and a variety of power/hand tools.
• Cleaning down, finishing & polishing materials to a high standard.
• You must be able to select the correct materials and be skilled in cutting materials by burning, disc cutting or by machine.
• Minimise waste by using/disposing of raw materials and consumable items efficiently
• Perform work in accordance with the companies health and safety procedures.
• Work effectively, ensuring the workplace is kept in clean, safe and in orderly manner.
• Be comfortable working on one off pieces and other small batch work.
• Understanding of and working to manufacturing tolerances.
• Completion of any other reasonable tasks or requests as required, in order to meet business and departmental needs.

• Ability to work under pressure and customer deadlines.
• Be a good team worker demonstrating loyalty and commitment to the company and team members. The ability to work on your own, using your own initiative and demonstrate problem solving.

WELDERS

We are recruiting Welders to join our busy Fabrication Shop in Jarrow.
AAP carry Weld Procedures to 15614-1 authenticated by Lloyds Register of Shipping in carbon steels, austenitic stainless steel and aluminium and our Welders are qualified to BS EN ISO 96061. We also offer weld specifications in line with the above procedures should clients require this service. In addition, we hold accreditation for ISO 3834-2 (Certified by TWI Ltd), the Welding of Carbon and Stainless Steel.

Experience
• You will have completed a recognised time-served welding apprenticeship including City and Guilds, NVQ3 or equivalent.
• You must have experience in MIG, Flux Core and TIG welding, in a wide range of thicknesses with a good understanding of technical drawings.
• You will possess experience in welding a range of materials, ferrous and non-ferrous material.
• You will have experience in pressure rated welding to 100% X-Ray / U/T standard.
• Welding to a high standard is required. Welds may require UT, 100% X-Ray or MPI tested for any defects to ensure these standards are adhered to.

Duties & the Candidate
• You will be able to read and understand technical drawings and specification sheets being able to identify weld symbols.
• Ensuring correct set up of welding unit.
• Ensuring all welds are within Welding Procedure Specification (WPS).
• Carry out dimensional reports (pre-weld and post-weld) where required.
• Using jigs whilst welding
• You will be responsible for carrying out precision measurements and accurately marking out.
• You must be able to select the correct materials and be skilled in cutting materials by burning, disc cutting or by machine.
• Understanding of welding processes as related to manufacturing and engineering activities and strong understanding of quality and process control with respect to welding.
• Perform work in accordance with the companies health and safety procedures.
• Work effectively, ensuring the workplace is kept in clean, safe and in orderly manner.
• Completion of any other reasonable tasks or requests as required, in order to meet business and departmental needs.
